As the weather warms up, it is essential to give our feet some much-needed care and attention. At Cheshire Foot Clinic, we want to help you step into spring with healthy, happy feet.
Trim and Tidy Your Nails
Proper nail care is crucial for foot health. Trim your toenails straight across to prevent ingrown nails, and smooth the edges with a nail file. Avoid cutting them too short, as this can lead to discomfort and infections.
Prevent and Treat Heel Cracks
Dry, cracked heels are common after winter. Regular moisturising and using a foot cream with urea such as ccs cream can help to repair and prevent cracks. If cracks persist, it is time to visit a podiatrist.
Check for Any Foot Concerns
Look for any cracks, blisters, fungal infections, or changes in the nails. If you notice anything unusual, book an appointment with us to address potential issues early.
Choose the Right Footwear
As you transition to lighter footwear, make sure your shoes offer proper support. Flip-flops and unsupportive sandals can lead to foot pain and conditions like plantar fasciitis. Opt for supportive sandals or Archies arch support flip flops (available in clinic), trainers, or orthotic-friendly shoes to keep your feet comfortable and well-supported. Although some trainers may not provide adequate support, such as Sketchers.
Our expert podiatrists can provide footwear advise based on your individual needs.
Strengthen Your Feet
Engage in simple foot exercises to improve strength and flexibility. Try toe stretches, heel raises, and rolling a tennis ball under your foot to massage and loosen tight muscles. Strong feet are less prone to pain and injury.
